As a severe trauma sufferer, I resent trigger warnings and won’t use them unless a publication requires them and even then probably won’t publish that article with them. I know what to expect when I read memoir and often of an author puts a trigger warning on their piece I won’t read it. I don’t need to be told that a genre that is personal might be triggering, I’m not stupid and to me a trigger warning tells me the author is showing me they think I’m too stupid to know what’s good for me.
