Insisting on a literal interpretion of the Bible is not Christianity
On being “born again” and again, and again, and again, and again…
I did hard time as a fundamentalist already, and while I learned much of what they said the Bible teaches, I never met Jesus. I’ve been “born again” more times than I can count or remember, in fact I was born again as I was being baptized after supposedly “getting saved” by saying the sinner’s prayer. I use the word “baptized” loosely because basically all I did was get wet, it wasn’t a legitimate baptism.
Every time I tell one of these born again folks that I’ve been born again hundreds of times and it never did catch on for me, I’m told that you can only be born again once, and then tell me if it didn’t work that I wasn’t truly born again. Someone please make it make sense. I think that’s asking too much of people, it just doesn’t make sense.
On my way out the door of fundamentalism, I did some time in the prison of evangelicalism, which really is fundamentalism.
