I feel like Rowling’s public position that she keeps making worse is a direct threat to my transgender daughter who had to be removed from middle school because even teachers bullied her and parents used Rowling’s arguments.

Of course she’s not a scientist, but she’s someone who people take seriously and she has decided to escalate her verbal attacks against trans people.

Ultimately I removed the books from my house because my daughter preferred it that way. I gave them to a friend who was interested. I don’t ask others to remove merchandise from their homes.

It is, however, a huge mistake to think her comments don’t mean anything. Unless you’ve been the middle school trans girl having a gun pulled on you by a fellow middle schooler outside of school because you used the wrong toilet.
