I loved this!

My daughter’s dead name was unusual but not unheard of, and I loved it.

When she came out as trans, though, it was no longer suitable. She has a very common last name.

I asked her what name she wanted to use and she said “Emily.” I hated it but it was her choice and she doesn’t know I hated it.

She’s Emily. And Emily actually suits her.
