I was always shocked when evangelicals told me to rejoice because one day my ex husband would be in hell. I no longer believe in that version of hell and I don’t relish the idea of anyone going to their version, even the person I despise the most. It was this shock that was part of my leaving. What makes them any better than him? I’m Christian because Jesus loves me and the person I want for Jesus to change is me.
