I was the child that wanted my parents to be investigated and I reached out for help but couldn’t be obvious. My parents, however, were “good Christian people,” which means most people thought I was a rebellious brat complaining about being spanked. The problem was some people knew what was going on but I was never important enough to them to report my parents. I hate the reticence to get involved, to believe the parents at all costs. It sucks.
