I’m truly sorry your daughter was homeless, that must have been hard.
If YOU personally, have not suffered homelessness you can’t speak for the experience you really can’t. Wanting to help is admirable, but you’re advocating for things that don’t actually help.
You have inspired me to write what actually helps from the perspective of a person who has actually experienced homelessnesses. :)
Charities are next to useless, so advocating giving money to them or volunteering isn’t actually going to help most homeless people.
As far as food banks: homeless people do not own can openers usually, we have no milk to make the macaroni and cheese, no way to actually cook the beans people insist we eat.
Charities are actually usually harmful.
Wanting to help is awesome, advocating “solutions” that don’t work contributes to cruelty against the homeless and most people I know have good hearts like you and just have no idea. Knowing what actually helps would be useful, right?
Anyway, good luck.
