It’s difficult to see articles like this as anything but judgmental. If I wasn’t texting or sometimes on social media that would mean I was ignoring people. Not everyone has local friends and family especially after COVID. For some of us, phones are how we get to talk. I get that people privileged enough to have friends locally are concerned.
I think it would actually be interesting to see if those who think there is too much screen time correlate to not having it as their only communication with their people, as opposed to those who think it’s not a problem being the ones who can only use their screens to talk to people. Now that could be a cool study.
Besides, I was told when I was a kid that it was rude to read books all the time and ignore people. No matter what I do I can’t win so I gave up trying to win.
