Making money being a writer’s #1 goal is legitimate and worthy. If that is a person’s goal then their style is entirely different.

For me, the money is a bonus I get sometimes. I want to be read and to have people seek out my work and enjoy it or it be something they needed to read that helped them. This is a legitimate and worthy goal too.

So it depends not just on audience and style, but goals. I could probably do okay on Newsbreak and I’m an excellent copywriter but there’s no meaning in either for me personally so I don’t write there. I’ll do copy once in a while but I hate it.

Great post and analysis. :)
