There is some bullshit doing the rounds again right now about how those abused as children need to realize that our parents loved us the best way they knew how, or that they were traumatized themselves and did the best that they can.
For many of us, this is simply untrue. I’ve decided to share some of the stories about my parents again here.
The abuse in this story is severe, and it all happened when I was young. I have so many reasons to be afraid of water, these are only some of them. I thought they were going to kill me, and that was part of what gave them pleasure.
