That’s horrible to tell him he’s the reason people are upset. He’s four years old. He doesn’t deserve that. Adults are responsible for their own behavior and how they respond to bad things.

The fact that they left school undetected is not their fault. The adults only have themselves to blame.

He sounds like a smart kid and to already know how to get to his house means he’s very observant which is a great skill. I’m glad they weren’t hurt.
