The Bible was never meant to be taken literally. There are 73 books (66 if you read the Bible where the others were removed. Personally I like my Bibles to have all the books), which are from a number of different genres and for a number of different authors.
The first eleven chapters of Genesis and perhaps much of the first five books, is mythology. Mythology is very useful and tells truth without having to be factual.
The Bible is therefore a library of texts. The texts are for different audiences. The Bible in no way proves anything about the creation of the world.
I believe in the supernatural and fight spiritual battles most don’t know about, but that doesn’t mean there was a literal 6-day creation 6,000 years ago.
My relationship with Jesus is amazing now that I’m free from having to believe that the entire Bible is to be taken literally.
