This is one of the best posts I’ve seen. When I was a child I was instructed to tell other children that their parents were liars and that Santa didn’t exist and he took glory away from God and that makes God angry.

I didn’t promote Santa much, but neither did I discourage him. Two believed, two didn’t.

I won’t censor my child and tell them they can’t express their lack of belief in Santa in front of other kids, if other kids are allowed to talk about believing, the two of mine who don’t are given the same courtesy.

They are told not to just go up to someone and say “Santa doesn’t exist,” but if they are having a playdate and the kids talk about it and mine expresses that, then oh well.

A kid will believe if they want to and not believe if they don’t want to. I have trauma related to Santa, my kids don’t. But I don’t try to dictate what my kids believe in the first pace not censor them for their beliefs.
