This is the thing that has always made me wary of the Book of Mormon. Essentially what Joseph Smith did was write a book while scrying and base an entire religion on it.

Now, I'm relatively good at scrying, not good enough to be arrogant enough to base an entire book or religion on it. There's always room for error. I don't think Joseph Smith was good at it at all, but that's another story.
