This narrative harms those of us who are mentally ill. We are seen as dangerous and unstable. I’ve noticed these past few years how disdain for people like me has grown, as if we are the problem. It’s a purely male problem which really eliminates the mental illness theory anyway.

People do treat me now as if I’m dangerous, I hear comments about how mentally ill people should all be locked up for the protection of society (instead of restricting access to guns lets just lock up innocent people).

If we locked up all the mentally ill people, there would still be mass shootings. I guess at least we would have to start looking at the real issue instead of making life harder for a group of people who haven’t committed mass shootings but who are always blamed for them.
