With my daughter, beginning social and medical transition immediately is what was needed but it was obvious for years before she came out that she was a girl and not a boy and her mental health required beginning transition. But with kids that aren’t sure yet where they fit in, I see the wisdom in waiting. It’s when laws are made to where my child can’t get what she needs just because other people don’t want her accessing gender affirming care that there is a problem.
